Hi.

So, i'm runing Ubuntu Gamepack, and it's a beautiful distro. Smooth and well oiled.

Except for one thing. Plex.
I'm streaming from my mates private server, and he usually runs his **** in 1080p. And when i start watching something, the first episode is almost always ok. Same with movies.
But when i then start Ep2. It tears vertically, and horizontally?
If i then reduce the resolution to 720, or less... It goes away... If i then try to set it back to 1080p, it tears again? I have NO clue why?
There's no change, if i try to restart Plex. And i can't really figure out what's going on?

I've read, that there may be an issue between my 240hz Odesssey monitor, and my GPU. That if they can't "communicate" properly, it may cause tearing. But thing is... I have problem on YT, or Netflix, or any other app for that matter. It's just Plex.

So it's a bit puzzling... Anyone got any insights i may gleam some wisdom from?

PS : Not very experiences with Linux. So too much technical talk, and i'll be "Uhm, what?"

Thanks.

  1. Open the Plex Web app.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Server > Transcoder to access the server settings.
  3. Turn on Show Advanced in the upper-right corner to expose advanced settings.
  4. Turn on/off Use hardware acceleration when available.

  5. Click Save Changes at the bottom.
If it is on try turning it off and see what happens

Also set the following in your Plex client, Settings -> Video -> "Original Quality".
