I think this is my favourite set up, quite possibly I have posted it in a similar snap but with Debian (apologies if so!)

Plasma offers the best global application menu I have tried so far*, and allows me to port those conventions I miss from macOS: such menu and the task list, which is the only feature I was using from the dock.

(*) Global application menu is great to save vertical space when tiling windows -- that's why I miss it!

Greatly enjoying the combined experience of GNOME, with the the bleeding-edge of EndeavourOS.

Shell and Cursor are Adwaita (default GNOME theme), Icons are Deepin 2022, Font is Cantarell Regular.

Out of a "kennels" of around a dozen Puppies, this is my usual 'daily-driver'.....Quirky64 'April' 7.0.1 'lite'...

The "info-center" on the right - featuring gKrellM & Puppy's native pWidgets (based on a minimal Conky) is a consistent feature of my Puppy desktops. The two 'spinning globe' GIFs along the top both act as launchers.....thanks very much due to fredx181 for the code that makes this work!

I've simply enlarged one of the 3 font-sizes in gKrellM to allow me to use the clock function as my 'desktop' clock.

NOT a fan of GNOME.....especially since Tobias Bernard & company decided that 'progress' means removing functionality and 'breaking' things with every new release. The whole GNOME crew needs their collective asses kicking. HARD!

(Not that I don't think the Gnome look isn't pretty slick nowadays, but I really believe they need to sit down and have a thorough pow-wow with their cohort of third-party developers in order to achieve some common, middle ground. As things stand, the Gnome 'leadership' is currently acting more like a dictatorship ("You will do things this way, or not at all...").....and that's not good for our community.)

I managed to nuke my installation of EndeavourOS through some careless use of terminal commands that affected all files on the entire filesystem, and I have now switched to a distribution that I consider somewhat of an old friend, OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, it was my distro of choice when I took Linux for a 1-week trial run in the past.

Now I share my GNOME desktop with you all. (Font: Roboto, Icons: Newaita).

Hmm... The 15.0 'release candidate 4' looks like 'ORCA'. So, it's a killer whale operating system.

Well, it says 'xfce' in the title. So, that might be it. It could also pass for one of the LXD* DEs, like LXDE. But, it does say xfce in the text.
 
Found an icon-set (Papirus) that covers my needs really well. Short of changing the wallpaper in the future, it is likely that things are final.

It features the package managers, slapt-get (CLI), synaptic and Gslapt
As well as the 'Flathub' concession to windoze user preference

My 'custom' take on Puppy 'Slacko' 5.6.0 - upgraded kernel (k3.4.11 -> k4.1.48); upgraded glibc (2.15 -> 2.20); newer dbus, libstdc++, etc.....and including a few additional programs in the re-mastered 'base' SFS.

Not the newest of my 32-bitzers, but definitely my favourite. 'Slackos' are utterly stable & rock-solid; just downright reliable.

You're probably already sensing something of a theme here! gKrellM is my fave system monitor by a long chalk; I've built packages of the most recent release of the dearly-departed Bill Wilson's masterpiece for most of the LTS Puppies over the last few years.

And the wee GIFs here & there just help to liven things up a bit. All have 'hidden', on-screen controls to start, stop & reset if required.

It's a layout I developed some years ago; it's one I like, and the intervening years have just seen steady refinements. I like a 'busy' desktop, I admit; it's not to everyone's taste, but.....it works for me.

I find it easier than bothering to learn how to do things with Conky. It has been a while since they've had a new stable release.
 
@MikeWalsh -- I ran Slacko 5.6.0 for a few years on and off for the few old Latitude D6XX series laptops (and one D830 I traded for a genuine old school Buck folding knife) for about three years until switching to Slacko64 6.2.0, I believe -- anyway the non-UEFI one. Did similar as far as upgrading glibc, etc. Then decided to go with Tahrpup64, which I remastered thrice before happy with the custom ISO and upgrades Firefox began to require. On to current one based on buntu 20.04.

For me, puppy has always been a fall-back-to distro, and although used for weeks at a time almost exclusively, went with an installed desktop distro like antiX or siduction or solus or salix, only going with the 'buntu distros when they made something I wanted to do easier, like Enchantment OS did fo a while and with which I disovered and explored ZFS.

For you, on the other hand, Puppy has been a passion, obviously! You must have quite the stashed resources at your command, of which aI may be slightly envious!

I am also more than glad to see you frequenting LO.

Heh. "Stashed resources" is quite right, if I'm honest.

I worked out the other day that I've got something like 800+ Puppy packages available to the community, spread across 3 cloud accounts; Google's Drive, MediaFire and most recently, MEGA.nz. Some of it dates back at least 7 years.

On my system, I've got around 1.9 TB of specifically 'Puppy-stuff'! I'm a hoarder; I very rarely delete stuff once I've acquired it, although there IS a 'cut-off' point.....currently, anything relating to Lucid or older. Although, having said that, Darren did put together an upgraded Puppy 4.3.1 a couple or three years ago, before COVID hit - 4.3.11, the "Phoenix". My God, we had some fun with that. I think the biggest shock he got was when I assembled a portable-chroot based around Tahrpup 6.0.5, running what was at that point an up-to-date 32-bit version of the Iron browser.....v69, as I recall. I packaged the entire thing as an SFS, so it could simply be loaded/unloaded, as and when.

None of us could have imagined it would be possible to run a modern Chromium 'clone' in such an elderly Pup. I've still got a directory of packages we trawled the archives for to see if they would work.....

Yep, "our Pup" IS summat of a passion as far as I'm concerned!
