Try running it under a different user account, maybe there is something in your shell configuration that prevents something from happening?

It means they might add packages that aren't in RHEL but will the applications that are installed on RHEL will also work on Alma Linux. If you scroll down to the bottom of the second link they explain it there as well in different words.

I would expect that is the same thing the GUI would do if you use the GUI to select which application you want to autostart. I think it's probably easier in this case for the OP to use the GUI as they don't seem to be too Linux literate yet.
