I have tried installing Linux Mint via a USB stick. Towards the end of the install I get an error message there is insufficient disk space. If I shrink the C: partition to create an un allocated partition would this work? If so what is the rule thumb for allocating space for Linux Mint? I...

I wanted to download linux mint on my old laptop.
When i was on install page, I created 3 partitions:
- "/" root partition with 27 gb assigned
- "/home" home partition with 30 gb assigned
- swap area with 5913 mb assigned
Then I clicked Install now.
I was redirected to the region selection...

This is with all default options, including completely erase the whole hard drive...
Spent 8-9 hours trying to install Mint 19. Gave up then read that installing Mint 19 is not a good idea. So bravely on to 18.3!! Now on second try at Mint 18.3. I am sure it is not Mint. It is probably me.
All I can say that Mint is not Windows. Most Windows stuff installs quickly and...
