Successfully converted desktop from Windows 10 to Linux Mint, Actually did nothing special, just installed. Have a laptop that was running Windows 10, daughter tried to update to Linux Mint but failed, Hard disk is blank, not sure how drive should be partitioned. Also unsure about PC Setup screens. The install seems to be ok, requests removal of USB , then fails

G'day Scranton Senior, Welcome to Linux.org

The drive doesn't need any particular partitioning. The Installer will take care of that for you and just do a default install.

Did you go for "wipe windows and install'....or something different ?

Was fast boot disabled, before attempting the install ?

Pc setup screens...does that mean there are dual monitors ?

This guide may just prompt you...:https://itsfoss.com/install-linux-mint/

Was fast boot disabled, before attempting the install
And secure boot
The install seems to be ok, requests removal of USB , then fails common with secure boot on

Fast Boot?? Found "Quick Boot"
Have 2 monitors but just using laptop screen at this point.
Following ITSFOSs instructions right now (great site)
