I'm having trouble getting my KVM virtual machine to start automatically when my Ubuntu host boots up. The state of VM is always "Shutoff" unless I manually "Run" it.

Details:
  • Host OS: Linux Ubuntu 24.04
  • VM OS: Linux Ubuntu 24.04 fresh install
  • Virtual Machine Manager version 4.1.0
  • virsh version 10.0.0

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
  • Verified "libvirt-guests" systemd service is enabled and running
  • Double-checked VM configuration in Virtual Machine Manager for "Start on host boot" option

If you're using VirtualMachineManager GUI, go to details, boot options, and click "start virtual machine on host boot up".

If you're using the CLI.
virsh autostart (domain-id)

I have reinstalled host OS and it works now.
