I didn't mean buying extra warranty...every product comes with a warranty e.g. My internal 500GB SSD has a 5 year warranty...of cause you have to keep the receipt.

Photo copy the actual receipt and keep both in a zip lock bag that's what I do.

Also be aware of lead.

The new 1 TB Toshiba that I purchased is coated with lead on the outside of the drive.
I placed painters tape on the places where I have to hold the drive.

I always buy the one with biggest storage that is available in the shop.
I'm too lazy to visit multiple shops.

It's a cheap piece of hardware anyway.

Eurrgh. Lead? That's hard to believe...... As @The Duck says, lead was banned from general usage a LONG time ago, so I wouldn't like to say what's going on there.....
