DISPLAYING LAPTOP SCREEN ON TV

hi yall, thanks for any help yall can give. i have linux mint 21 and my tv hooked to the laptop.
Under display setting, it shows "unknown monitor" when i click "detect displays"
But IT JUST WONT SHOW ON MY TV DISPLAY.

The only thing i could find on prior threads is to bring resolution down to 800 x 600 which i did.
STILL NOTHING.

just started linux because i loathe g666gle and micr060606^^^^
but if i cant get this to work, i cant use linux.

Does your laptop have an Fn button with a monitor-looking icon on it? Press Fn and toggle that and see if it helps.

i think you mean G. Either way, fair enough. i will be respectfull and honor that rule from hereon. sorry bout that.
4me, it is just that i am sooooooooo over technocracy. The 060606 reference is to kill gates and ms intl patent 2020-060606 that
does 2way communication from a person via graphene oxide in ALL OF US to ms via persons cell phone, right now being tested in south africa.

In mint, the usual switch is FN+F8, But some laptops will need to have the bios settings modified

Make and model of your laptop?

Method of connection? VGA? HDMI?

On my smart TV, you have to choose the "source" of the signal.

Huh. I concur with @DexTheDog ; Nvidia has a reputation for being "awkward" in some important respects under Linux. The 'official' drivers are a must-have, 'cos the kernel's "nouveau" driver can't always cut the mustard.....
