Install Google Chrome

Assuming it's in you Downloads folder, open your terminal with CTRL ALT T.

Code:
cd Downloads
sudo apt install ./google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
However, you should be able to update it just fine with 'sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y', assuming it's properly installed along with the repository. You shouldn't need to download a .deb each time it updates. It should update with the remainder of your system.

Edit: I also just realized that's not Chrome. I couldn't tell what browser it was. So, ignore the above bit about updating.

That screenshot is meaningless.

Hasn't it occurred to you that this site uses English ?

@KGIII - just a heads up that the above method (sudo apt install &c) may generate an error about sandboxing.

We'll see how the OP goes, but otherwise sudo dpkg -i in Terminal and using GDebi from the File Manager will work seamlessly - GDebi may require a dependency or two to be installed along the way, they can be OK'ed.

Cheers

It *should* not, unless there's some Mint weirdness that I'm unfamiliar with. I just tested it (albeit with Ubuntu in a VM) and it did exactly what it should have done.

You have applied the lesson but it has not been updated

With which program do I install the package because it doesn't seem to work in Terminal?

Sorry, but if the download is in another place such as another drive, it does. It is academic if the OP (original poster, that is you, Tariq) has it in downloads.

I had the .deb download to the same spot I keep my stable of .isos, a 300 GB partition on my HDD /dev/sda, and using the apt install method generates this

N: Download is performed unsandboxed as root as file '/media/chris/FutureLinux/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb' couldn't be accessed by user '_apt'. - pkgAcquire::Run (13: Permission denied)

That is a NOTE, but it still installs and launches. In older versions it was prefaced with a W: for Warning.

This applies across a range of Distros, including Debian, Ubuntu and Linux Mint. It is related to a bug that has been around for years, affecting /var/apt/archives/partial permissions. A few hours ago, I found an article that references it.

https://www.ultralinux.org/post/how-to-install-google-chrome-on-ubuntu-18-04/

The problem does not arise if you use either of

sudo dpkg -i /path-to/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

or install with GDebi through File manager, even if the .deb is in a folder such as mine.

I am thinking that given the OP's difficulty with English, the GUI GDebi approach may be a better option.

What think you, my friend?

I get what you're saying now - and no need to be sorry.

GDebi is my favorite solution, actually. I just didn't want to go through the additional step of asking them to install it, for obvious reasons.

Easily enough installed (if not already there) through his Software Manager. But we'll start to sound like Mac and Tosh, soon - "After you", "No, after you".

Let's kick back and see what Tariq has to say :) :)

Not unless you can launch Google Chrome.

Tarek, where did you download the .deb file to?

Was it to /home/tarek/Downloads ? Or if not, where to?

If it was to Downloads, you have to type 2 commands, as @KGIII said above

Code:
cd Downloads
sudo apt install ./google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

The Google Chrome file is included in Downloads and downloaded from the Chrome page

It's case sensitive. You typed "Upgrade".

From your list of packages, you already have Google Chrome installed - or at least already have the repository.

If you need to, copy and paste...

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y

Aptitude doesn't recognize 'Upgrade'.
