I'm using xubuntu 18.04 . Very new to linux. When I try to install I copy the command line from SShark & place it in terminal. First it said cant find curl. I install that. Now it say installed successfully . whe I boot up, Sshark does not open. Can you please advise.

Are you aware that 18.04 has reached end of life?....which means 18.04 fleet will stop receiving updates, including security patches. A VPN will not safeguard you.

Best way to go, you will get all the latest dependencies and drivers if you go for the main Ubuntu build .which is Ubuntu 24.o4 [Noble Numbat] then it will be supported untill April 2029

A number of people have seen problems installing the latest Ubuntu
Be sure that Secure boot and fast boot are both disabled in Bios.
If the issues persist, I would install linux Mint 21.3
