wait, it boots with noomodeset
sorry but that is the most up to date i know
It worked!!Do you just get a blackscreen or a blackscreen with a blinking cursor?
I didn't do anything, I just asked a question. What did you do and what's working now?It worked!!
Do you know why it worked(for future reference)
brickwizard recommended i tried mx linux because of advanced hardware support to see if that would do anything and it workedI didn't do anything, I just asked a question. What did you do and what's working now?
do you know why mx linux worked compared to linux mint?sorry but that is the most up to date i know
i will keep an eye out for when the more stable version comes out. is there any other os's that use ahs? just so i can see if there are any options out there for the future. but thanks a lot for fixing my problem!OK it worked but dont get over excited, that is a release candidate, so there will be no support for it, you will need to do a full installation of the new MX21-ahs when it is released this may be a month or so so keep a check on it
why did it work, partly luck but basically as i said before AHS stands for advanced Hardware support so it has the very latest stable Kernel and virtually all the latest non-free [proprietary drivers]
your welcome, just a matter of thinking on a tangent, thanks a lot for fixing my problem!
An old Linux Guru that used to teach me things told me a long time ago that if the wrong driver is loading it will cause the device not to work. I think modules are in the output of lsmod. For some reason it's not loading the correct amd Graphics driver. It's loading ati:vesa and it should be AMDgpu.
That is a kernel function. But it may be worth a try to install the driver from AMD or through the PPA found here.
If your mobo is UEFI than yes you would want to disable secure boot in the BIOS and than proceed to install Linux.it wouldnt be possible that i dont have secureboot enabled by accident right, because i couldnt find it in my mobo bios when i looked
sudo apt xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu
ive encountered another problem and its with game running speed, my games are running at the speed of a powerpoint slide show on relativley easy games to run, would you know why? i think its something to do with driverssorry but that is the most up to date i know
that I cant help you with sorry, I'm not a gamer. this i think you need to start a new thread , title it something like "my graphics are too slow for gaming" and in your question post the result of terminal command.. inxi -G [inxispace-G]ive encountered another problem and its with game running speed
