I've been using Linux for some time now. I started with Linux Mint 20.1 Ulyssa, the distro that made me fall in love with the Linux operating system, dropped windows once and for all and plunged headlong into the world of Linux.
I'm going to talk a little about my experience, both in terms of games, work, installation and configuration.
General Desktop:
" At first I found the Linux interface 1 million times prettier than that cloying old Windows 10 interface. I tried Cinnamon 4.8.2 and was in love with its simplicity and at the same time the look that won me over." --
" After a while I noticed that my razer mouse as well as my headset and keyboard did not have the official razer support for the Linux system. Until I discovered OpenRazer, and honestly, 10x better than Synapse and consumes much less ram, a program that has a focus, configure your hardware and that's it. " --
" Even though I stayed away from Nahimic, the MSI boards hardware configuration program, I got used to the standard Linux audio manager program. I missed Nahimic and it was a little difficult to be without him in the first month. " --
" I liked the update system, the synaptic package manager, things that Windows don't have openly, and that's one of the reasons that made me leave Windows and migrate to Linux. " --
" Overall I liked 99% of Linux starting with Linux mint 20.1 " --
--
Settings:
" As I said, the lack of Nahimic left me a little dissatisfied on Linux. But my friend, AMD's opensource drivers, the Kisak Mesa ppa delivering the latest Mesa 3D drivers, honestly, has more fixes than the proprietary AMD driver for Windows itself. I wonder? When did AMD support and fix bugs for Game Mods? When I opened the Mesa 21.1.5 changelog and noticed leak fix for S.T.A.K.E.R. - Anomaly mod, I was blown away, a bug that has been in Windows since the mod was released and AMD never bothered to fix it. Anyway... " --
" Configuration of my mouse, video drivers, wine, steam and lutris, as well as the Xanmod Kernel was papaya with sugar, even though it was difficult at first, I read and ran back and everything was easy, nothing that frustrated me or me did give up on Linux. " ---
---
Games and Work:
" I've heard so much that Linux is horrible for gaming that I honestly consider Linux better than Windows when it comes to gaming, and 10x better to work with than Windows. I don't know if I was too tired of Windows, but Linux is all the better, in all requirements, at least for me. " --
" Bugs and crashes in games that was present on Windows, on Linux did not exist. I was amazed when I ran my favorite game ( The Witcher 3 ), and it ran much smoother and stutter-free on Linux using the Xanmod kernel. One of the reasons I never use Windows again. " --
---
In short:
Nowadays I don't use Linux mint anymore, I started using Kubuntu 21.04. I love how I can configure my desktop. Overall Linux for me is and always will be the best operating system for Desktops. Now comes Valve with the Steam Deck, opening the door for big companies to release more and more games for Linux, and the DXVK project gets even more turbocharged.
I have no reason to go back to Windows, now I can say I'm a Linux user, a penguin.
Thanks to everyone who supported me here on the Forum, made me like it, made me love Linux.
