Plugging in new USB device - no OS response.

Am I going nuts ? Should I get a "what you want to do next" dialog response from Ubuntu?
I have a running Bluetooth boom box and it keeps beeping EVERY time I plug / unplug ANY USB device.
No other indication ...

Sounds like some sort of interference issue.
