Recovering non working OS partition

Would it be pointless to remind you that it has been mentioned to you on a number of occasions that it does not make a lot of sense to be running so many iterations of the same Ubuntu release on the one system (and then wondering why a number of them foul up)?
Further, it becomes mostly academic because EOL (end of life) for Hirsute Hippo is in January, maybe 4 - 5 weeks maximum, and security updates, bug fixes and so on ...
