Timeshift & Similar Solutions - Safeguard & Recover Your Linux

Just so you know, when you come back and edit a post/add to it.......the people watching this particular forum will not be alerted that there has been a change.

That will let Chris know there has been more added

Indeed, if you set up the timeshift snapshots in your system drive and it's on BTRFS,...

Best, IMO, Gabriel, to remain focused on RSYNC/EXT4 for now - BTRFS is certainly something @Sherri is a Cat can choose to learn about at a more Intermediate stage, though.

I didn't know that y'all was a "down under" thing. :p

Paul, Paul, Paul, Paul, Paul ... what are we going to do with you? ;)

Zip. Zilch. Nada. NOTHING.

About the size of my paycheck here.

OK, so I only have a couple of questions -
  1. Are you running a full install of Linux Mint, and if so
  2. Is it on the Lenovo?
  3. Is it Linux Mint 21.2?
  4. Is it working OK or are the graphics a problem?
If you can answer each of those numbered questions, it will help me and I will have a few more following.

TIA

Wiz

Didn't know that. But did put the "at" Wizard from Oz at the beginning of the message. Don't know if that makes a difference. So I also sent a PM to him.

  1. I am running a full install of Linux Mint
  2. Installed on the Lenovo
    1. I don't know how to generate specs for the laptop, yet!
  3. Linux Mint 21.3
    1. Initial install was 21.2
    2. After applying all available updates to 21.2 I took( EDIT) the first snap shot.
    3. After the first Snap shot, the OS was upgraded to 21.3
  4. Graphics
    1. LOL, from my observations, the answer is a little more complicated!
      1. Since the last update this morning, it seems to be better, but...
      2. The time of day and what I'm doing on the internet seems to affect the functioning of the graphics
I suspect I know why this is, but I don't want to get ahead of the questions you're asking now!

The damn it was because I hit enter before telling you I edited the answer.

Code:
inxi -xxxG

Lol, regrets on the delay - I am multitasking and was running some voodoo on my Gecko Linux Cinnamon that could not be interrupted.

I have a program running on it now that will take 30 mins followed by a reboot but other than that, I am here.

Thanks for those answers, they clarify things.

So can I get you to slip us a screenshot of the Timeshift screen that shows the snapshot taken?

Ta

For full specs

Code:
inxi -Fxxxz

Okay, so the commands in Windows sort of work the same in Linux.

I'm trying to select the whole thing then copy it so I can paste the whole thing at once. It's a little long

So 2 things for now
  1. screenshot of the TS snapshot and
  2. output from command at Terminal, inxi -Fxxxz

I take it this is in Terminal, do you have a Menu at the top of it?

Okay, I think you should talk to me like I'm a total idiot!
I'll show you with screen shots exactly how I tried to do this!

Okay, I think you should talk to me like I'm a total idiot!

I would never do that with a lady, or anyone else for that matter, lol.

If it ever seems that way, it is likely my Aspie peeking through.

I clicked on the highlighted file

EDIT.... That didn't work out like I thought it would. That's okay though. I'm learning
