is any other info needed, will check daily, peace.

First thing I'd check is whether the sound system is muted or not. For this one can run alsamixer, or, pavucontrol, to unmute in case it's muted. Other than that, you could check out the other troubleshooting steps outlined here: https://wiki.debian.org/Sound

Tks, dats da ticket. Now I be Jammin. On this unit it was the alsamixer that work.
Thanks again, best place in town to get help...

Well boys and girls, I thought it was fixed. being young @ linux, I need help. can not figure out how to change loading order of sound cards. Mine is there, last to load.

can you explain a bit more about what the problem is? do you still not have audio at all? what does the loading order affect?

also, you said things were good and marked the thread solved. did it work as expected for a while and then stop again?

I have unset the 'solved' flag.

Following is an example of one strategy which may help showing output of a machine here.
This is an example of one way to do it.

1. Show the sound cards on the system, including their device numbers:
Code:
[flip@flop ~]$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC887-VD Analog [ALC887-VD Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
<snip>
card 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
<snip>

The output shows two sound cards on this system, card0 and card1.

2. Show the default sound card being used:
Code:
[flip@flop ~]$ aplay -L | grep -i -A3 sysdefault
sysdefault:CARD=PCH
    HDA Intel PCH, ALC887-VD Analog
    Default Audio Device
front:CARD=PCH,DEV=0

Output shows the default card is the Intel which is card0.

3. Select which card to make default:
Code:
[flip@flop ~] alsamixer
Then press the F6 key, which brings up a box
similar to this:
Code:
+------------------------------+
   ------Sound Card -----
          (default)
default:0 HDA Intel
default:1 HDA NVidia
          enter device name..

+------------------------------+
in which you can select the card to make the default.

did you highlight the other choices....headphones...speaker..?

alsamixer has little blue arrows pointing to the right. did you use the right arrow key to look and make sure no other columns were muted?

Yes to the last two. It is the way it loads on install. Went to earlier comp. and everything fine.

OK folks. This is what I have done, All the above suggestions, with no results. Final try, installing Mint 21.2. Audio LMDE does not like this system I bought. Tkz for all

@johnnyb if you get Mint 21.2 sound working, maybe let us know.

And if so, take a Timeshift snapshot (and make alternate arrangements for your Home data) and store in a safe spot.

Good luck.
