New windows keep opening on the top right of screen

I haven't been able to figure out why, but new windows keep opening up at the top left of the screen the last few days. I can still close them but am not able to move them around as I can't touch the top part. Is there something in the settings that would cause this? I've checked them but haven't found anything yet.

Thank you! I apologize, yes, Mint 17.1 with Compiz enabled.
That seems to have partially worked. I do have the close and minimize buttons back on the top right of the windows and they don't open on the top left of the screen anymore. However, once they are open I cannot move the window anywhere else on the screen.

To move them if you can't reach the title bar, Alt-drag will work.
